Soak testing is a long-duration stress test on Aruba CX switches to see by keeping them running while triggering events, to uncover slow-build failures that short tests never reveal.
Finding those long-term issues early means fewer customer complaint and more reliable product being shipped.
For a typical 24-hour run, they had to remember which commands to trigger when, jump back in to check if things were still running, and manually pull logs and metrics. Any small mistake could cost an entire day, and repeating the same setup on another testbed meant starting over from scratch.
QA engineers were spending more time maintaining the soak than learning from it.
✰ Introduction
At HPE, soak tests were still run manually.
